Summer surprise in Quebec
They were after smallmouth bass, but then the lakers arrived

Of course, we also caught plenty of bass, which were smacking everything from bucktails, curly-tail grubs and drop-shot rigs to crankbaits, topwaters and spinnerbaits. (Jon and Patty hooked into several hammer-handle pike, too, on nearby Devil’s Lake.) After nine years of fishing in this Quebec wonderland, I have to say, it never gets old (especially when you have a beautiful boreal lake all to yourselves!).
