Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation to hold another major online raffle

The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation aims to duplicate the success of the online raffle it held last year, which raised $40,000 for securing habitat and running conservation programs. Once again featuring first-, second- and third-place prizes, along with a 50/50 draw, this year’s raffle was slated to launch in mid-February at the federation’s 96th Annual Convention and AGM in Regina.

The first-place prize this year is a 14-foot Starcraft fishing boat with a 20-horse, four-stroke Mercury outboard and an EZ Loader trailer. The prize for second place prize is a 750cc Kawasaki Brute Force ATV, while the third-place winner will receive a Biktrix Moto electric bike.

SWF executive director Darrell Crabbe says the federation learned a few lessons from last year’s raffle, which featured two rifles and an archery package as the prizes. “The gun raffle went very well for us,” he says, “but we experienced a lot of challenges because of the restrictions social media has on advertising anything to do with firearms.” Since firearms are not included in this year’s prize lot, Crabbe says he doesn’t expect similar snags.

Great prizes are up for grabs in the SWF raffle

Last year, the funds raised all went towards the SWF’s Habitat Trust Fund. Hoping to bring in even more money this year, Crabbe says it will also be distributed among the federation’s other programs this time. “Outdoor education will get a big boost from it, some will go for fisheries, and certainly a part of it will go into habitat as well,” he says.

Available online only through the federation’s website, a single raffle ticket will sell for $20, or you can get three for $50 or six for $75. Tickets for the 50/50 draw must be purchased at the same time. They’ll cost $10 for one, $25 for five, $50 for 20, or $75 for 40. The draw date is set for May 15, 2025.
