About George Gruenefeld

gg-horsebackSince the late 1950s, George Gruenefeld has hunted and fished across North America with additional forays into Africa, South and Central America and Russia in search of adventure. Based out of Montreal, Quebec, he served as outdoor columnist for the Montreal Gazette for over 25 years during which time he indulged in the exceptional trout, char, walleye, muskie and Atlantic salmon fishing eastern Canada has to offer, along with the waterfowl, woodcock, deer, moose and caribou opportunities to be found in his home turf as well as neighbouring provinces and states.

In 1994, he moved to Saskatchewan, mainly to be closer to the legendary whitetailed deer and bird hunting found there and only partly to edit a number of fishing and hunting magazines. The latter vocation took him to the west coast in 2004 where he continued to explore the fabulous outdoor adventures along the coast of British Columbia, the Interior of the province as well as points east of the Rockies. Since 2003, George has been Western Field Editor for Outdoor Canada magazine.
