Why hunt?
If you’ve a hunter, you’ve undoubtedly had to defend the pastime to someone unfamiliar with the sport. And that can be a tricky task. The folks at the California Waterfowl Association, a non-profit organization whose principle objective is to preserve, protect and enhance waterfowl in the state, have recently released a video on their website, that may help enlighten the non-hunters among us. Titled “Why hunt?” the five-minute clip “captures the underlying emotions and conveys how hunting intimately connects us to our environment, especially through the food we procure and share with others,” claims the group. The video, which includes some stunning waterfowl footage, may help arm you with another argument or two to explain why you hunt, or you may just want to invite those questioning your hobby to check it out for themselves. Says the association’s president Bob McLandress:
“With this video and our other outreach efforts, California Waterfowl is unabashedly promoting the roots of our tireless and generous support for conservation, our passion of hunting. We don’t expect other to share our desires to hunt, but we implore them to get outdoors, actively participate and enjoy the bounties of the natural world.”
Sounds like a goal we can all get behind.
