Mercer to offer a Sunday night fishing fix
Is fishing funnyman Dave Mercer the heir apparent to Bob Izumi as Canada’s top TV angling personality? A little fishy tells me Mercer’s Facts of Fishing The Show is now second only to Izumi’s Real Fishing in terms of viewer numbers. And now news reaches us that Mercer’s popular half-hour catch-and-laugh shtick is poised to go prime time.
According to a press release from Port Perry, Ontario-based Dave Mercer Outdoors Inc., the show will be airing Sunday nights at 6:30 starting April 12 on the Score, a national sports and live events specialty channel. This is in addition to the show’s existing Score time slots of 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The March 24 press release finds Mercer in a characteristically enthused mood:
“I think this is huge! One of my biggest pet peeves about fishing shows is that we air when most of us are out fishing Saturday and Sunday mornings. With the Score adding us in a prime time spot, I think this is going to be huge for our show and the sport. This will give us an unprecedented opportunity to promote our great sport to millions of new viewers. I want to thank the Score for making this bold move and the viewers for their support, as always.”
Facts of Fishing The Show also airs on the World Fishing Network, as does Mercer’s Facts of Fishing Tip Series (which also appears on the Outdoor Life Network, The Weather Network and Wild TV).
Cue the trademark Mercer giggle.
