Fish-A-Thon For A Cure is growing into a major event
Talk about a little event really taking off. In 2009, the first-ever Fish-A-Thon For A Cure saw 13 anglers raise $3,170 for cancer research after a day of fishing at southern Ontario’s Deer Creek Conservation Area. A year later, 25 people took part, raising $4,500. Last year, more than 80 anglers joined in and raised more than $15,000. And with this year’s Fish-A-Thon For A Cure, slated for July 21, organizers hope to top the $20,000 mark in pledges.
All money raised goes to the Canadian Cancer Society by way of Dave Mercer’s Casting for a Cure charity. To learn more, register to compete or donate prizes, click here.

Yes, as another participant/helper with this event, great to see this exposure. This event is more about family, fun, and raising money for a cause that is important to all of us than the actual fishing. That being said, we do have a fun tournament set-up that gives some of the winners bragging rights, not too mention some nice prizes donated by generous sponsors. Thanks, Patrick and Outdoor Canada!
