Canada’s own Jim Shockey and his crew picked up three honours for their hunting programs last Thursday at the Outdoor Channel’s 12th Annual Golden Moose Awards gala in Las Vegas. Held in conjunction with the massive Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference, the awards honour the top shows carried by the U.S.-based channel.

Tied for the Golden Moose for Best Adventure were Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures and The Professionals. The Best Videography honour also went to The Professionals. In all, the B.C.-based hunting personality and his gang had 10 nominations going into the ceremony at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino—the most for any one TV outfit. Plus, Shockey was the only Canadian TV host nominated.

This is not the first time the Victoria, B.C., hunter has struck gold at the Outdoor Channel awards ceremony. Last year, in fact, Shockey also garnered the most nominations—eight in all—and picked up three prizes for The Professionals, including Best Overall Production, Fan Favourite Best New Series and Best Sound Design. As well, Hunting Adventures took the prize for Best Big Game Hunting show. He was the only Canadian nominated last year, as well.
